Good’s record fundraising puts her on a trajectory to easily outspend Buchanan
Sarasota, FL – Representative Margaret Good, Democratic candidate for FL-16 announced today that her campaign raised over $330,000 in the first two weeks of October, more than Buchanan’s campaign says they raised for the entire third quarter. Following a record $1.1 million third quarter, this puts Good on a trajectory to easily outspend Buchanan.
“I am grateful to the thousands of supporters who have joined this effort to bring positive change to our community. Clearly, the voters of the 16th District are ready for change and I look forward to working for them in Congress on the issues that are important to them, like strengthening our economy, solving our water quality issues, and lowering health care costs,” said Rep. Good.
Good is on pace to easily outspend Buchanan who has had to loan his campaign $500,000 just to keep pace. Buchanan also spent half a million dollars from the 2020 cycle paying off loans from 2018. Given this track record, it’s unclear if Buchanan is willing to spend the new $500,000 dollar loan, or if he is once again using it to pad his fundraising numbers.
A recent campaign poll shows Good in a neck-and-neck race with Congressman Vern Buchanan. The poll, conducted from October 5 – 7, shows Good within 3 points of Buchanan (48%-45%), well within the poll’s 4.3% margin of error. The race has tightened significantly in the last two weeks since Good’s last poll.
