SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in a news conference in Jacksonville Friday said 99.99% of people who filed in March, qualified for unemployment and completed their applications should have received benefits.
Many of you have reached out to ABC7 saying that’s not the case.
“We have constituents call us every day that have applied for unemployment benefits in March and have yet to receive a check,” said Florida House of Representative for District 72, Margaret Good.
The Governor said when the Department of Economic Opportunity goes through a case they’re finding incomplete applications.
“This needs to be dealt with right now. It’s not because their application is incomplete. We are walking through the application process,” said Rep. Good.
Rep. Good says her and her team assure constituents applications are complete to get state and federal benefits.
“The problem is the system. The problem is you can’t connect to the CONNECT system,” said Rep. Good.
She says the Governor needs to direct someone to go back through March applications and get people paid.
“Especially if you’re in that late March period you should have been processed by now if your application was complete and if you’re eligible. If they haven’t been, I want those names. We’ll bring it over to the agency later today and see if we can get working on it,” said Governor DeSantis.
